Famous for its spectacular buttes and spires, Colorado National Monument offers plenty of outdoor activities. Drive or bicycle the 23-mile Rim Rock Drive and take in the views. Enjoy more than a dozen easy-to-challenging hiking trails, world-class mountain biking or rock climbing. Be sure to stop by the Visitor Center to learn all about the park’s interesting geology.
James R. Robb State Park
Just across the road from Monument RV Resort, James R. Robb State Park provides stunning views of the Colorado National Monument and foot access to the Colorado River. Bring your swimsuit for the swim beach and your fishing rod as well. The small lake is stocked with trout in the spring and fall.
Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park
Prepare yourself for 2,000 foot tall, narrow canyon walls dropping almost vertically to the Gunnison River. The river drops an average of 43 feet per mile, making it one of the steepest mountain descents in North America. Hike, fish, rock climb, snowshoe, or just take a drive and enjoy the scenery.
Dinosaur Journey Museum
North America’s largest dinosaurs once roamed this land, leaving treasures that are still being discovered. At Dinosaur Journey Museum, you’ll see real fossils, cast skeletons and robotic reconstructions of dinosaurs. There’s a sandbox for making your own dinosaur tracks and a “quarry site” where kids can uncover actual Jurassic dinosaur bones. Within walking distance of Monument RV Resort, this is a favorite with many families.
Drive the Unaweep/Tabeguache Scenic and Historic Byway
Take a step into the past by driving over wind-swept mesas and through dramatic river canyons, past historic gold mining sites and cattle ranches. See the world-famous hanging flume and stop at the unique, small towns along the way. Take a side trip on a rugged jeep trail for even more adventure. Length: 133 miles, Driving time: 3 hours.
Adobe Creek National Golf Course
Nestled against the backdrop of the scenic Colorado National Monument, Adobe Creek National Golf Course offers 27 holes on three separate nine hole courses – The Mesa, The Monument, and The Desert. Adobe Creek National welcomes golf outings and tournaments of any size all while letting the public play year round, weather permitting. Just a mile away from us.

Walk through the historic downtown and visit one of the many unique shops and restaurants. Take in a concert or visit one of its museums, including The Museum of Western Colorado. Summer celebrations include the Country Jam USA Music Festival and Dinosaur Days.
Grand Mesa
Grand Mesa is the largest flat-topped mountain in the world. It is covered in pines and stands of aspen that are brilliant in the Fall. At 10,000 feet, Grand Mesa is a year-round haven for outdoor enthusiasts, with boating or fishing on over 300 pristine lakes, horseback riding and hiking.
River Rafting
The Colorado River, Green, Dolores, Gunnison and Yampa – take your pick. From extreme whitewater to gentle floats. Whatever matches your sense of adventure, you can find it here. And, the scenery can’t be beat. Several local companies offer guided or self-guided river trips.
The Children's Nature Center
The Children’s Nature Center in Fruita is now open. Its staff is so happy to share this opportunity to learn and grow, with the valley and visitors to the area.
